Printed Knitted Fabric is a type of textile

Printed Knitted Fabric is a type of textile that is made by interlocking loops of yarn or thread together. It can be woven from natural materials like cotton, wool, silk or synthetic fibers such as polyester or nylon. It is often printed with a variety of designs, patterns and colors. Printed knit fabric is usually very soft, lightweight and supple and can be used to make a wide range of clothing and accessories.
There are many different types of knit fabric, each with its own distinct characteristics. For example, jersey knit is the most common type of knit fabric, and it can be made from a variety of fibres including cotton & viscose with or without elastane. It has a smooth surface and two distinct sides, with vertical ribs on the right side of the cloth and horizontal ribs on the wrong side. It also has a good stretch across the width of the cloth, making it very comfortable to wear.
Other types of knit fabric include interlock and rib fabrics. These have less stretch than jersey knit but are still supple and comfortable to wear. Rib fabrics have a very distinctive pattern with alternate rows of knit stitches and purl stitches. The simplest pattern is known as garter stitch, which has all knit stitches. Alternating knit and purl stitches can produce a variety of other patterns, such as stripes (ribbing), squares, diamonds and basketweave.
Some types of knit fabric can be dyed to have multiple colors, either in a variegated style where the color changes every few stitches in a random fashion or self-striping, where the same color is repeated on each row. More complicated techniques allow for large fields of color (intarsia), busy small-scale patterns of color (such as Fair Isle) or both.
When choosing printed knit fabric, it is important to consider its weight. This will determine how supple the fabric is and how it drapes. The fabric’s weight can also impact its stretch, since thicker fabrics have less stretch than thinner ones.
It is also important to choose a suitable type of fusible interfacing to use with your fabric. The fusible interfacing should be a close match in stretch to the knit fabric, and it should be tested on a scrap of your fabric before using it to ensure that it will be able to be stretched. It is also a good idea to pre-wash the knit fabric before using it, so that any shrinkage or curling can be prevented.
Knit fabrics are a very popular choice for a wide variety of garments, from casual tops to dresses and skirts. They are often used for activewear and other types of sportswear because they are breathable, comfortable and can be printed with a variety of designs and patterns. It is also easy to sew knit fabric on a home sewing machine or overlocker. However, it is important to know the basics of cutting and sewing these types of fabrics before you start making your own clothes.
